If Airplane Mode is enabled and you open Messages, an alert will let you turn data on right there instead of making you open Settings. As far as I can tell, this is fairly new, possibly 6.0.1, and Messages seems to be the only app to get this convenient option, Apple or otherwise. The alert for all other apps I test requires me to switch to Settings.
