Safari, Mail, and possibly other apps gained external keyboard shortcuts in iOS 7. Safari, for example, picked up many of its OS X sibling’s shortcuts such as:

  • ⌘-T – open new tab
  • ⌘-W – close current tab
  • ⌘-R – refresh current tab
  • ⌘-L – keyboard focus in address bar (so you can start typing right away)

Mail also picked up some shortcuts from its OS X version:

  • ⌘-N – new message
  • ⌘-⇧-D – send message

I’m not sure if keyboard shortcuts are available to third-party apps, but I sure as hell hope they are.

Update: Sounds like third-parties can do it. Thanks Benjamin!
