If you paste an address into Contacts on OS X Mavericks, Contacts figures it out and places information like city and zip codes into the proper text fields. In my testing this works for single- and multi-line addresses, such as Shedd Aquarium, AgileBits1, and Realmac Software.

This should have been in OS X 10.0. Possibly even the betas. It took over a decade, but thank you, Apple engineer(s).

1. AgileBits is one of my clients. But after some quick searching, they’re they only company I could find with a single-line address.
